Yellow Circus

The rain helped drag me down the rabbit hole this week and I needed yellow, bright yellow, blinding yellow to fling me back out.  Dots and circles and yellow.  All this made me think of  Calder and his miniature circus sculptures and his use of primary colors in his mobiles and the yellow seemed to fit in with some of my painted backgrounds so the idea of a yellow circus series of post cards became this…

I got by with a little help from my friend…

Peeking at me, peeking at you!

Ah yes, It’s been raining and raining and yup, more rain this morning. We used to have seasons, Winters with snow and lot’s of rain in April but now New York feels like London with all the rain we get. Hardly ever get snow (except for 2 winters ago when we had 17 snow storms) and we go from bitter cold to hot and humid.

So, your wonderful circus of yellows brightened up my morning with an “art sunshine” and that dog of yours I could give a big kiss to, he or she is a sweetie! My dog and cat friend are always in the midst of what I’m doing as well.

Have a Sunny morning in New England!

I love days when I know it will rain all day…..I come to the studio and it’s like everything awaits me!
I don’t have to run errands, I don’t have to mow, I don’t have to go OUT. I’m in my creative space and life is good!
Love the combination of YELLOW and PINK-PINK-PINK!!! Really perky and in your face. Yay! Happy.

What a cheery color combo and just a fabulous series – a great way to get out of the doldrums. I keep meaning to try working in a series and then when I get to the craft room, the idea flees my brain…. I’m inspired once again by yours to give it a try….

I could use some brightness here too, we’re reverted back to pre-summer here and awaiting the warm temps. at least it’s staying light really late now.

I was going to say something along the lines of “mellow Yellow” but this is not a mellow yellow. It is a shout in your face, grab you by the eyes and pull you right in Bright Yellow! Like a Goldfinch yellow! Thanks for brightening up my day.

Thank you for those little rays of sunshine, both the cards and the 4 legged one. Today is a totally grey day here, I think I have to pull out something yellow tomorrow.
Ps. I haven’t forgotten your email, just one of those weeks:)

Love the pink and yellow. I recently saw several Calder pieces at the High in Atlanta. Love the circles and movement as well.
