Winter Solstice 2013

On this shortest, darkest day of the year, the light was fading by 3:45 this afternoon.  I finished up my chores, filled the duck house with fresh straw, the bunny house with fresh hay and said good night to them oh so early.  As I loaded some more kindling into the big cardboard box in our basement I found a bag of last years Christmas cards in one of our Christmas bins.  A card from my friend Damini contained the word DREAM.  I thought about the darkness, the going inward into just such a dream land and added the card to my journal page.  The words wish, seek and joy were on a sticker sheet.  I felt like the DREAM card had called out for those words to be there, so my  Solstice page became Dream, wish, seek joy.  Words easy to say, but not so easy to believe sometimes.  So on this darkest night, when you get ready to tuck yourself in for sleep…DREAM big dreams, send wishes out into the world for those you love, and seek your inner joy.  Thank you Damini for bringing that word to me today….and for you friendship that is truer than true…..I will be DREAMING big wishes for you.

It’s hard to believe that we have turned the corner on winter darkness. I drove home at four with my headlights on.
I like Dream….it’s how I survive the dark. The dragon is perfect to breathe fire and light into the world.

What a perfect way to celebrate the winter solstice. Very impressive collage, too. So many beautiful layers, it must have taken forever after the sun set. Have a dreamy night dear friend, while I catch up on your blog!

This is so beautiful. And sweet and warm. I am so sorry I’m late, but I’m behind on everything.
Learning to forgive myself for this. Thanks for your good wishes. I hope all your wishes come true!
