It’s so hot today that my brain has shut down. The barometric pressure is moving around and one dog is in panic mode. Puffy clouds are giving way to darkened skies. Thinking in black and white. What do you see when you look into the spiral energy of what you create? Seeing it in black and white changes everything. There is so much more going on in this retro vintage photo than in the color version. There is an exploration of what might that be in the background and what is inside the shadows of those coiled rolls. Questions that remain unanswered and only guessed at.
Or here these two paintings together originally shown in oranges and turquoise now reveal mark making that hints at their titles – anxieties. Strokes and scribbles and agitations…just like the heat, agitating all of us.
Or in this last one where the reverse shows so much more clearly and the small circles and bits of type still remaining make me think of computer code that holds a secret message. Enigma translation please…for those of you who remember what that is…I never forget because my Mom worked on the decoding during WWII.
Thinking in black and white and imagining the unseen.
