Rehab — Here we come

Well it’s official.  The superhero and I are the proud owners of this faded beauty…

faded house

Recognize it from Thursday’s post.  We are going to spend the next many months bringing a smile to this old girl’s face and mapping our heart to this home.  A creative project indeed for this 214 year old house. As you can imagine a daunting task but one that will allow us both some creative whimsy and a chance to put our personalities into our space.  Some day it will be our full time house, but for now she needs alot of patience, care and love. (The Superhero is now madly in love with Rehab Addict and wants to be Nicole!)

She is surrounded by bramble and brush but also some lovely old lilacs and fairy roses and forsythia.  A giant apple tree sits right by the kitchen window and a few more are in the yard out back.  Hopefully they will grace us with a few apples this fall as we learn to prune them and maybe bring them back a bit.  The barn is earmarked as the Superhero man barn with space for a workshop and music.  ( I am thinking assemblage and funky furniture creation, not sure that is what he is thinking however).

My creative space once again gets a bit bigger and has some lovely north light to paint by.  A good old fashioned big yard will be fenced for the furry ones with some wild areas left for mouse hunting and the like…..digging holes will be allowed.  The front of the house will be earmarked for a cottage potager and with all that sun I imaging a nice salad garden will fit the bill.

I will share the project as we go, so you can see the hidden views, but for now, this antiqued photo will have to suffice.

Tomorrow we take out some brush, and then some more brush, and some more…..a working Easter afternoon it will be.  Hope you all enjoy family tomorrow and your Easter holiday.  Hope we spy some wild bunnies…..until next time.

Oh!!!! Lovely — I adore old houses. Our Victorian was built in 1906 — the year of the SF earthquake. And lilacs???? You have lilacs there???? Just tell me when the guest room is ready and I’ll be there. xoxoxo

We don’t mind a little work and hubby would have a workshop…… Will you have lots of room for your art and crafting?? Hugs! deb

I’ve seen a lot of Victorian homes, but never one as old as that beauty. I’ve never heard of the rehab show, but it sounds like one I would like, since I’m such a DIY freak. I look forward to updates on this lovely old home. For now, I’ll wish you both (and your fur babies) a lovely Easter.

WOW Corrine! How incredibly exciting! Does that mean you will be downsizing to a smaller block then? The house is nothing but divine just like in a fairy tale! Jeff and I have also recently
purchased a beach house on a small block to renovate with bushland and ocean views for us
to move to from our property in the next year or two!
Enjoy this wonderful move! It will be an amazing journey!
