I was flipping through some old copies of
Cloth, Paper, Scissors. I love to look at my
old magazines over and over, just for
the sheer eye candy of it all. Don’t you?
What do you read over and over again
and can’t bear to throw away?
I came upon this decorated dress form
by Beryl Taylor, whose work I just adore.
I thought this might be just the thing to create
a prop for Jay’s store and I had this paper mache
dress form I bought at a thrift store that is about
2 feet tall. Perfect for a tabletop display. So….
I painted it quin red and accented it with
violet halo gold. Then I painted a sheet of
watercolor paper as Beryl instructed with a watered
down version of quin ren and sprayed it with
glimmer mist in candlelight and stamped
all over it when dry. I used that and some collage
paper to make the skirt and some festive ribbon
for the wrap and to give it some fluff. A few tags
stamped and painted, a cotton doily and some
fluffy ribbon around the neck and voila…
The pretty prop fragrance queen.
