Paper Clay

I had the pleasure of taking an afternoon
paper clay/mixed media class with
Sue Pelletier.

You have probably seen her snowman
bottles on the cover of Cloth, Paper, Scissors
and her textures DVD for them as well.

She was teaching her paper clay heart class.
She arrived with a mountain of materials for
all of us to use and some great techniques
for building up texture.

David got some early Valentine’s today
because this is what I brought home…

Freehand hearts draped with plaster and other
elements and paint, crayon and pen sketching.

This rather elongated heart
is encased in crinoline
with similar technique
as the one above, this one
was done on a recycled canvas
that had lots of yellow green
and I rather like the contrast here
so used it sparingly on the one above.

It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Off to a 50th birthday dinner for my neighbor.

Enjoy.
