Noticing, noticing. Something I am trying to do more of. Be interested in the details, the minute details of the world I love and live in. Broaden my horizon, gulp more of life, be more aware, be more more. I broke out of The Stuckness on Monday and really made a dent in a couple of projects getting ready for the Vintage Bazaar in – yikes – less than two weeks. Made some space just to breathe.
So before the rain hit (it’s coming down nice and steady now) I camera hopped around the yard and settled on one image to illustrate this post.
Many moons ago the Superhero and I collected a few huge(6″ big) pine cones from Mendocino on a wonderful trip we took. I have kept them ever since and moved them about, sometimes inside as a display and sometimes outside tucked in among the houseplant on their summer vacation on our patio. We have a crusty old firebrick outdoor fireplace that is in constant need of a repaint to keep it looking good. It proved to be the perfect spot to take these photos. I wanted to illustrate the concept of noticing and how much I MISS, when I don’t really see what I see, if that makes sense…
I went on further to play with a couple digital edits to change the point of view and notice other things, see in a different way to inform my concept of what this pine cone really could be if looked at differently.
Pixilations which brings out the texture with the dots but keeps some of the texture and to me is just fun, I like seeing the texture through the individual colors, so it makes me see something different.
Noticing is a practice that I am trying to incorporate into my daily creative explorations to see how things show up in diverse ways so that I can expand where I take a view and see what shows up. Like a meditation, like a deep breathe, living life to the fullest.
