Today I have been alternating between
getting dirt on my hands in the garden
and paint on my hands in the studio.
This morning I planted asian greens
and fennel and was pleased to find
some Red Russian kale and some
red mustard coming up from last year.
The nettle have been cut and cut again
and a few mints, valerian and yarrow
are happily sprouting. Not to mention
the dandilion, chickweed and lambs quarters
which the ducks and rabbits greedily eat.
In the studio I celebrated that
riot of new growth on this May Day
with a riot of paint on a board.
Chaos of orange red, yellow orange,
acid green and turquiose over some
collage elements. A riot in the garden
It was nice to hang
some clothes on the
line and have them dry
Ah, the simple things.
