Looking Up

Hawks are screeching, owls are looking
for who cooks for you and birds are flitting
everywhere.  Getting ready for Fall has begun.
All our feathered friends are molting and small
white and brown feathers are everywhere.

A lone coyote played cat and mouse with
David and Philo and was undeterred with
the barking antics of that New England black
dog as they are called around here.

Things are changing so rapidly everywhere
with everything that I almost can’t keep up.
Do you feel the same way too???

The kids are gone, moved into their new
home and the grand dogs are happy in
their old neighborhood again, same dog
park with all their old buds.

I keep looking up like chicken little,
waiting for the sky to fall, or to see
what else will fall into my busy lap.
What are you waiting for these last
days of summer,
slipping,
heavy with haze,
into Fall.

Oh wow, what is that fantastic piece there? The 365/collage?!? It looks like a garden all by itself.
Thanks for your visit too. Anytime you come on down, let me know and we will hit all the fun spots and musical chairs.

This piece is so gorgeous; I keep going back to take another look! Right now I'm waiting it out until Friday so it will get cooler! We are in, yet, another heat wave week – can't believe it. Earl has everyone on alert along the coast. Hope it keeps heading out to sea! xxoo

even tho its 99 degrees here right now I can tell fall is on the way! our hummer group is shrinking and the cats are waking me at 6am instead of 5! whee! I hate that it is getting dark around 8pm but cant seem to find a way to change that! the last few days were wonderful low humidity and lower temps. you could sleep at nite without the A.C.!

Fabulous! I saw rows of birds on the roofs of near by houses last evening waiting to fly off together. Definitely a smell of autumn in the early morning air.

Gorgeous collage. Art hanging on the line is wonderful…
I too feel the crazy clock hands whirring out of control. Yesterday as I dutifully was going through my to-do list, I noticed on Facebook that my friend was hanging out by her pool in the heat of the last day of August afternoon. I called her up and invited myself to join her. Another friend joined us and we soaked in the coolish waters for well over an hour, slowing down life just a bit…I keep seeking solace and quiet in the moment. A good practice but how come I forget it so often ?
Here's to finding the still moments in the chaos. Happy Molting ! 😉

Yes, our last days of summer are gone and our short autumn is here.
One last music festival in the mountains and time to heat the studio.
I find myself cooking more and grounding into the household.
The shift is so sharp and extreme here but I have over 30 years of getting used to it. It's very enlivening!
Then I get to extend my fall when I go back to New England at the end of the month.
I like the woven collages and especially the way you photograph them!
    xoxo Kim

P.S. I started a new blog today. You're the first to hear about it.
