Keeping It Simple — Art Show Display

Furiously working on the Vintage Bazaar display this past couple of weekends.  Staging and playing around with ideas…We took my son’s old kiddo desk(used to be one of those unpainted pine desks) that has gone through many painted iterations….  I like the size of it – about four feet long and only 18″ deep.  Perfect for the back of the tent.  The Superhero beefed up the back and gave it a rust feel with unfinished pine barn board we upcycled from my neighbor’s barn leftovers.  Charcoal and duck egg (Annie Sloan) chalkboard paints – one coat and this stuff if amazing. A bit of sanding for that vintage look and then waxing it all and a nice buff.   I collaged the inside of the shelves with a pack of 6×6 (Basic Grey) Out of Print papers to give it some color and used a small child’s chair painted  and two wooden boxes painted as props.

Staged on the patio to see how it looked.  I am feeling confident good about this look…What do you all think?????  Superhero is working on painting displays too.  I will show you those next time.  5 weeks and counting ….Art Show Display art show display 2 Art show display 3 art show display 4 art show display 5 art show display 6

I think you did a great job! The paint colors are really nice on the desk and chair and the papers in the back add nice dimension and interest. Good luck with the show!

Well done! Your set looks wonderful, you put as much work into this as you do all your art, you and the Superhero both. Makes me reconsider what to do with that old desk getting warped out in the garage….

You will need to be careful, or someone will ask if the desk is for sale. Very nicely done, and the displays you have created are perfect. Not too busy, not too sparse. Like baby bear, it is just right.

I especially like the Reawakened canvas. All are beautiful, but that one immediately caught my eye.

I also like how you used the chair as a lift. Great display potential.

What a clever display idea – you’re lucky Superhero is so handy…. 🙂 I agree with Karen that it gives a great background w/o competing with the art. And of course the art looks just fab!! I just know you’re going to have a great show!
