The first crack of thunder has yet to sound
and it may be one of those days when storms
threaten and no rain returns.
The same heat was with us a few weeks ago while
we toured the National Arboretum in the fierce sun.
Here is D demonstrating the breadth of a willow oak
that has been around since civil war times.
How many storms has this tree seen?
Legend has it that civil war soldiers used to
hug the tree to bring them luck as they believed
the spirit of the tree would return them safely
We hugged it too and stay beneath it’s cool branches
Stay cool and be peaceful.
