Friday Affirmations – To Keep…

To keep the spirit of the holidays in your heart — keep it simple.

In order to keep the spirit of Christmas alive in my  heart, and all the holidays my friends are celebrating, I felt it was important to keep it simple this year.  Make a few things but take the humble approach figuring my friends would rather receive a hand made something rather than a purchased nothing.  All day Wednesday I spent making Christmas post cards, gift tags and a duct tape journal(from a collage pack and some embellishments from Pink Paislee called City Sidewalks).  It had just the touch of nostalgia I was looking for and I  played with paper and some halo pink gold paint and the washi.

***I am giving the journal away to someone who comments on this post.*** You have until next Friday’s Affirmation post and the Superhero will draw a name from his Kris Kringle hat, so if you would like the journal, leave a comment here.  I though it would be a nice way to play with washi which you all know I love and send a little spirit out into the world for someone to tuck photos and cards of their own into.  Today I will stitch the pages in and do some meditating on what the season means to me.  You can see more pics of the stack in the gallery below.(just click to make them bigger).

You truly are a master of upcycled art, Corrine, everything looks gorgeous! I love how you have made each card different and yet they all look like a collection in style and colour scheme. Do put my name in the Kris Kringle hat please!

My birthday was in October and I wish there were yearly calendars that started on your birthday, but there are not. Therefore, if I’m lucky enough to receive your journal I will use it to create my personal calendar…it will only be a ten month one as my prize would probably arrive in December. I would be delighted to be the owner of your art!

What a wonderful way to spend your day! I love vintage look holiday decorations. Don’t have any idea why, except they make me smile. Perhaps I’d like to believe it was a simpler way of life. Such joy in their faces! I love all of your work — filled with such fun, color and LIFE! Through my name in the Kris Kringle hat! 😀

Beautiful beautiful work as always! I love the vintage red! & the “keep it simple” approach. I woke up this morning thinking something similar about my friends appreciating a hand-made something and thought I should get a start on it. You’re just the inspiration I needed. (&I hope my name gets pulled out of Santa’s hat! 🙂

Sorry I’ve not been around much lately. I finally got my head out of my basement so I could stop by! I’m late for the giveaway, but that doesn’t mean I can’t tell you how awesome the journal is. Very impressive. I love recycled things, and this journal spoke to me.
