Feeding the Hunger of Creation – Getting Organized

Hard to believe it has taken 4 weeks but there is only a tiny bit of dimness at the end of the tunnel. Fabrics have been cut by 2/3, the rest donated. Trash sorted, 6 giant bags of recycled papers and scraps have gone away, other craft supplies taken to the studio to be used up there.

I finally have the most organized paper storage I have ever had.  One big tub for rolled painted papers, 4 bins filled with vintage, tissue, scrap/printed and hand made papers.

I saved one bag of recycle just to use up for mail art and I feel a huge sense of lightness as the home studio begins to become functional again.  Ruthlessness has replaced thrift in my realization that there is only so much you can save, only so much you can use and the rest just plain gets in your way and prevents you from feeding the hunger of creation.

I like that I know what is there and where it is and can easily put things away but have materials just at the tip of my fingers.

A bit more to go – putting the paints in better order and the like, but I am mostly done. Feeding my creative hunger, feeding my soul.  It’s a good day.

okay, you are blowing me away with the new site and social links. You inspired me to deal with my work space mess. The floor is even covered, I’ve moved to the dinning room table. I need to start tossing and recycling…paper is my down fall! My hoarding of recycled materials has stopped me from making new art. can’t find anything.

yowza – you’ve accomplished a lot! I spent a weekend organizing my papers about a month or so ago and I’m SO glad I did. Every single time I open my file cabinets or closet and find EXACTLY what I’m looking for within seconds I am thrilled all over again. (Now the key will be maintaining the system and not letting the piles build up again). I’m ready to do this to my whole house – I’m reading the clutter/ feng shui book you blogged about and it’s very inspiring.

Good for you! I know a good cleaning can almost always make us feel better! Your piles of paper look very organized now. I redid my paper stacks a couple months ago and am mostly able to keep to the system…

    How inspiring! 🙂

I’ve been gradually reorganizing my own studio space. I feel so much better about not keeping things now that I know about the creative reuse center in my town! They even take that plastic netting stuff that veggies sometimes come in. 🙂

The rest of my stuff, though, is a mess. I might have to follow your example when I’ve got some time.

Corrine you are doing so good. Keep going and don’t look back and when you are finished you can make art again. You’ll have new energy and I know you already know this but I just wanted to cheer you on! Bravo! *smiles* Norma

I was wearing the wabi sabi apron at my party yesterday; I love it and all the other Mrs Moens were quite envious – it is both pretty and useful!
