Faithful Companions

As I watch our new pup Peanut grow, and grow, oh, and grow, I am reminded of our most faithful companions who have gone before.  This little girl reminds me of another girl who has passed  but will never be forgotten.

Blossom collage 12313Blossom.  Ran every run, chased every squirrel, kept constant watch while we gathered kindling and firewood.  Sniffed each leaf as if it were the first breath she ever took.  Reveled and rolled in every unmentionable pile of you know what in the woods. Stood on point whenever she saw a bird.  Hunted frogs in the pond, even though she never caught a single one.

Blossom made mischief like a fireworks explosion on the Fourth of July. Dug to the center of the earth and back. Ate my first Japanese Maple to the ground. Caused a ruckus with her siblings whenever possible. Was a trial and naughty when it suited her but always had time for lovin.

Not a day goes by that she isn’t in my thoughts as well as her siblings Pickle, Buster, Mama, and Man Man.

I cannot imagine a life without these magnificent creature to grace me with their wisdom and presence and teach me so many things about how to love.  I think Miss Peanut is well on her way to becoming like her big sisters and brothers before her, and her sister and brother’s now.

I live a lucky, lucky life. For that I am oh so thankful.

You are surrounded by such faithful doggies, because you are such a faithful owner, you and David. You all are blessed, I’d say.

Our dogs, our pets, are so personable and such a part of the family, that the memories associated with them are strong. I can recall moments with my childhood dogs more vividly than moments with childhood human friends. I can tell it is the same for you. My neighbors have a dog, I was guessing it is like Peanut, a Jack a bee but no, they told me it is a Boggle=half Boston Terrier and half Beagle. I’ll send you a picture.

Oh yes — we are blessed to have such great family members…
they teach us so many… you are right!

    I can’t imagine a life without our two Ridgebacks…
they are like my kids , my partners ..
and not to forget – they are the best personal trainers ever..
without our dogs we wouldn’t spend so much time out ..
I love cats too… had three in the past ..
but it seems that I am more the dog-lover

My dog teaches me how to lvd every single day. He has great advice. Like: take a nap when you need to, pay attention to who’s walking down the street, get happy when people come home, etc. You know the list 🙂

I think Peanut is such a wonderful name for a sweet little dog. You are lucky 😉 Loved those leaf decorations a couple of posts back, too.

This is just adorable, Corrine. You have made me stop and think back decades and call the names of every dog and cat who saw me through a portion of my life. Once Jake made it through the chewing stage, he has become the best of each of them and our pride and joy today. Russ tells the joke about putting your wife and dog in the trunk of the car for an hour. The question is, when you open up that trunk, who is glad to see you? A dogs love for a faithful owner is unquestionable love. Indeed, we are both lucky, my friend!

The more I read about all your pets the closer I am to adding to our pack. There is such love in here!
