Kris Henderson is hosting two challenges this year.
Erosion Bundles 2011(link in my sidebar) and Every Inchie Monday.
While I chose not to participate in Every Inchie Monday
many of my blog pals are so be sure the check out their
Monday inches as they post on the blog. I did want to
do another bundle for this year, so today I put it together
and hung it outside…
Some rusted bailing wire from
a straw bale. Stitched painted and
sewn old sheets, vintage linen napkin,
a hunks of wool fabric, muslin, rough
drop cloth cotton, vintage ephemera
all enclosed in a rice bag given to me
by a friend(remember that paella party).
I found a piece of denim cording
from an old jumper and used it to
tie up the top. Since we have two feet
of snow on the ground, I could only use the
shoveled paths and decided it
would get wind, rain, ice and snow if I
hung it on the arbor, so that’s what I did.
I can watch it sway from the
living room windows.
Hand stitching has been the order of the week.
I packaged up boxes and envelopes to go out
to various friends and then sat and worked on
a valentine banner for the DH. Still quite a bit
of embellishing to go. Hand embroidery too.
This vintage doily inspired the idea of a pocket
to tuck several valentines, both new and old,
here it is with a vintage valentine post card from
Some coffee dyed muslin,
new bright colorholic fabric
which I loved, old bark cloth
a vintage cotton doily, new Pima
crochet flowers, laces, ribbon, buttons
and who knows what else may yet
The creative mojo has been quiet, so this is
a slow way to get back into things and it is
This pale pink netting makes me
think of the veil on one of my Mother’s
hats. Some rough tack down stitching
which will be visible and some embroidery to
come, we’ll see how this one turns out.
I think I hear the glue stick calling me
