Corners of My Mind

The studio is clean,
for about five minutes.

I wanted you to see
that I am not incapable
of organization, it’s
just that my little
creative world is only
six by eight feet.
Plenty of room for inspiration…

A cubby of layers
just like a collage.
Storage behind
storage, shelves
in front of shelves,
paper stacked upon
paper, upon paper.
You can just see the books
and magazines in the back…

I like being cozy in my
world.  I was thinking
of expanding upstairs
again, but decided that
the cubby suited me to
a T. The space is also
wonderful for constraint.
I can’t expand too much
without running out of
room to work, which is
a good thing. Some paint
and stamps and ink and
more paper stored on my son’s
old childhood desk…

Plenty of room for gifts from friends…

And a little more love on the
Jay as a little and the oh so
photogenic Miss Blossom
and Man Man, how I miss
her so…
Some totems and more doodads and paints…
and my glasses, don’t forget the glasses…
Hope you enjoyed the “little” tour.

the big question is it warm in the winter? looks very neat right now!hard to keep it that way when its a small space! but maybe it keeps you from gathering too much stuff! have fun looking for what moved where! lyle

your creative room looks like my creative chaos…I like all kinds around me to inspire me..I just couldnt work with everything tucked away all neatly as its just not me. Thanks very much for looking for that book for me you are a star…will have a go at the chicken soon as its just what I wanted

Well Corrine the space might be "smallish" but what comes from this space is "biggish plus". More space can sometimes create more mess and makes you keep more organized. At least there is the space for the more important things of Miss Blossom and Man Man to be displayed!

It makes me feel better to see how other people deal with all their art "stuff". My art space is "clean" right now because I had company coming for the weekend and I wanted them to be able to see my creations and not the chaos that the process involves. Maybe I should take pictures so I can remember how it's supposed to look. (LOL) By the way, your headline surprised me when I scrolled down to it… I had just heard "the corners of my mine" on the tv show I'm listening to while I blog – Michelle LeGrand on PBS. Were you watching it when you wrote, or just psychic????

Oh, it looks just like my shelves, Corrine!–I can tell you, that even I have more space as you, it is filled to the brim–just like yours—love the look,-and all you have in there.
    Hugs, Dorthe

Beautiful use of space!!! I can't stay organized to save my life, and I have a great big space – a whole two-story barn. I'm trying though. THanks for your comment on my blog! Keep up the great work.
