Arty Asheville

We’ve been absent for a few days because we took a quick getaway to oh so arty Asheville, NC.  The weather, not so good, rain, rain and more rain.  The art, sublime, Margaret Couch Cogswell, Laura Balombini(who was the nicest ever and spent an hour chatting away)...170 open artist studios in the River Arts District and the Folk Art Center with 900 members…

The food, farm to table and oh so tasty, how does an organic grass fed local beef burger with kale coleslaw and a chocolate shake sound?  Brought me right back to a childhood barbecue and I was in heaven.  Did I say biscuits,? Did I say cheesy grits?  Did I say pan fried local catfish? Did I say local fresh eggs? Did I say get on that trampoline and dig out the hula hoop and work that food off – yes I did…CityCafe/Bakery, Early Girl, Crescent and Farmburger some of restaurants we visited if you are in the area…

Mountain views and bluegrass vibes, local bands and local brews and some darn good coffee too.

Photos, not so good, dark and cloudy, but a few to share…hope you enjoy.  I will be catching myself up with all your happenings in the next few days, bear with me as I get around to visiting…..missed you all…..

Your pictures came out great; no worries there. Did you plan all of the meet ups with the other artists?

It’s been many years since I’ve been to Ashville. The god kids are in Raleigh and I keep thinking I’ll go visit them and make a stop in Ashville, too. Sounds like you had fun!

What a great little mini-vacation. Gray skies aren’t great for walking and generally being there, but the light is beautiful for photography.

Sounds like you’ve had a great time Corrine, I like your photos, the sun trying hard to come out, against the black makes for beautiful shots!

Yay, I love Asheville!! Mr. Sequin took me there for my birthday when we still lived in NC.

I’m so glad you got to go! Sounds like you had an absolutely fantastic time. I’m very curious about the trampoline and hula hoops, being an avid hula hooper, myself.

Thanks for sharing your photos. Liking that hula hoop idea!
