Art Journal – The Chaos Pile

This morning I posted a photo of the chaos pile that is my studio desk.  I mentioned it would have to be my creative muse because that’s all I’ve got – TIME for that is . Now I am posting the journal page that resulted from my earlier photo.  I decided to use an hour or so of my time and find something in that pile that would indeed inspire me.  It started out like this…

A photo I altered in DistressedFX.  Somewhere in that pile on the left emerged these pieces to frame my page.

The dimensional piece that sticks up in the middle made me vision part of a face and an eye, so I developed the page from there.  Acrylic paint, glazing, gel pens, colored pencils, china black pencil, black and white markers, drawing pencils and more colored pencil  (Even a secret rub-on remnant distressed – thanks Seth!), and an oops(thanks Carolyn), where I pulled up half the rub on because the page was not quite dry.  Patience is NOT my strong suit.  Here is the final result and the gallery below is the rest of the process of sorting, filtering, and finding in the chaos.

Everyday is a learning day…Thanks for looking.

Your chaos creates great art that speaks, she is clearly making some kind of statement here, so bold and strong!

There’s definitely some sort of genius at work here.
No time + desk chaos = process photos plus this wonderful artwork.
    Brilliant.

Somehow it’s always a bit comforting to see another artist’s desk be as jumbled as mine! And yet we manage to make fun and sometimes great stuff! Is she shouting for joy that the yard jumble is almost under control or that you managed to squeeze in an hour of art time? Either way, I empathize! 🙂

Hey! We both saw that eye! I like that, Corrine! You have transformed discards (to the side, not the bin!) into a very interesting and thoughtful piece of art. It just a-muse-es me how just a spark can begin pushing your creative spirit into motion, as it has done here. I am glad you took time away from what you should have been doing! 😉

I love how you always find a beautiful, layered, textural, happy face in the chaos!

Love it! Wish I was better about just going with the flow, instead of always wanting to plan things out.
