Art Journal — Journal as Mood Board

I’ve been away from the studio table for several days while working on the farmhouse rehab.  This weekend I was noticing a blush beginning in the trees, the goldenrod beginning to fade and the daylillies drooping to the ground.  As I sat on the new deck and looked out at the yard of the farmhouse I was contemplating the future vegetable garden and the connection of food to nature to life to cultivating not only the ground but the soul.

After working inside the house for a while, I just had to be outside.  I always seem to move outside to the yard.  The farmhouse yard is definitely calling to me with it’s potential and I feel such peace there.

As I dipped into some journal time today I manifested all those feelings into a mood board about sustenance and nurturing and balance.  Journal as Mood Board.

I very much like the idea of “cultivating a soulful connection to nature,” Corrine, but count me out on that warthog meat! Seriously, I really love this journal spread. I think I have actually spent more time that I have looking at, enlarging, then contemplating the sections as your have photographed them. Really interesting piece which has made me stop and ponder…

Wow- do you have a stack of papers you have already compiled or are you tearing as you go? What a great spread! Everything goes so well- and leaves much to think about- “)

I wish the world would find a balance between what arrives on our plates and nature, and I wish I myself would take more time to understand and do something about it in my own little world, -but pondering as you did is a great start, Corrine -and your moodboard will for some time go on making you reflect on this big problem.
Love your thoughts and how you put them on your paper !!
