Art Journal — Dear Deer

Deer have been showing up everywhere.  In my friend Damini’s work, in Kelly Moore’s work(one of my favorite artists), in nature as a bush that looks like deer, tree branches resembling a fawn, deer hoof prints on the frozen ground.  Fragile, gentle, movement into the new(even though Spring refuses to cooperate) dear deer is showing up again and again.  Deer for balance for me, for slowing down, for absorbing what I need to feel internally while crazy mind rolls it around again and again.  Dear deer and a little angel wing to help along the way.

That single wing adds such impact to the story of this deer!

A single wing, a single eye! I can interpret this in many ways. I adore it! xo

As I sit and ponder this one=winged, one-eyed deer, I cannot help but think of life’s imperfections, which, over time, ultimately become perfection itself! I am touched by your art today, my friend!

what an amazing deer Corinne… I am ambivalent about them- I always have trouble
to keep my dogs away – they love to race for them.

LOVE the sweet dear! Look at that darling eye!(maybe another behind the fur?)
if he came to eat in your backyard, you’d just have to adopt him!

I love the simplicity of the shapes you use, but filled with complexity of texture. Looks like a gelli print was maybe the start of it and then built upon for the dear deer. I love your explorations!

I think I like deers, yours anyway, Corrine- even he looks a bit sad, maybe.. but also trying to keep up with that, in dressing in happy colours…. the only deers I really don`t like , are the ones visiting my garden, eating the roses …I hope noone finds my garden this summer !!

Is that an 8 point or 6 point one-eyed, one winged dear deer? He’s quite the looker, regardless. I really enjoyed this guy.

He looks very wise to me, and I love the textures coming through ….

I’m a bit worried about your deer, I think he looks a little bit stressed. It’s a super painting, though, and I like his little wing, maybe the other one is folded back? Hope you and your deer calm down and become less stressed soon.

There were two frolicking in the woods near me when I went to get the paper this morning… literally, frolicking! Even the deer are happy for a warm day. Love how you’ve done this one’s face, especially. Beautiful.
