Art Dolls and Softies

My dual fishy nature often causes me to head in two directions in my creative life.  Some days it’s all soft and cute, other days it’s funky and odd.  Some days it’s both.  There is no consistency in my path, but I feel like my authenticity comes through no matter where I wander on my journey.  My life is a walk like a hound after a squirrel.  It’s what calls loudest to me that day, and that suits me fine.  Keeps life sparkling all the way.  To illustrate this visually, here was my creative journey in the past few days.IMG_8399

Meet Root.  She lives by her gut, she’s soft on the inside but puts on a good front. She’s sassy.

She’s 22″ tall and about 6″ wide at her arms.

Tiny 6″ cloudy buddies, soft and cute.

And a new series for a show at the York Public Library in August, the beginning, more to be revealed.

Root is the perfect name for her. I really life her. She is solid, reliable, feeds and anchors like roots do for a plant, yet not about to be put on any pedestal. I think I can relate to her. That’s me. And I know about the dual nature. Oh us Pisces. Hugs-Erika

Always fun to see all that you create Corrine.
It’s good to go with what calls you.
Your rainbow stitches really speak to me and make me want to reach into the screen to touch them.
Happy Creative June to you oxo

I love how you described your creative path. I feel very much the same about mine. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the piece in the last photo. A lot of directions you could go in with the variety of colors.

I’m not sure which is the bigger softie, you or the lovely art dolls you are working on. Root looks exactly like her name conveys. Of course, those clouds are simply adorable. ADORABLE!

Oh I envy you the hand stitching. Looks like you are counting down the days until the show in August.

She turned out perfect Corinne… she represents exactly the feelings you wrote about –
I feel familiar with what you wrote about creativity as well and that it leads us from here to there is so true…
often too many ideas are in my head at once … good that I forget about the most again…would be too exhausting to implement all my many ideas…

She is a real BEAUTY and the cloud is cute as well!
Good luck with the preparations for the upcoming show!
    Happy weekend Corinne!

So wonderful with all the many ideas your head brings out, and your hands then starts to create, without hesitating ,- makes this place new ,almost every day ,Corrine.
Your tough Root , and kind ,sweet clouds, are two of a kind….both soft and lovely inside, and the wonderful stitching in all the colors of the world, –what will they become I wonder.
You create so many pieces , and I sometimes wonder how many hours you are in your studio, every day, 🙂
I hope you will have a playful weekend dear friend.

Root is not afraid to show herself on the blog, she has Attitude and lovely legs. Do you find yourself getting fond of her? Her expression says “I’m me and you can take it or leave it”. (At least that’s what I think after studying her closely).
And then we have the sweet little cloud buddies. I think they could be quite playful and happy to have around.
But Root would be fun too, I think she would have a lot to say.

A super collection! Such original and authentic souls here. Root definitely has her own character with all her own individual traits and I love her green and blue eyes. Those sweet clouds look so happy, a delightful collection, I can see Lulu loving these!
